Splatoon adding new Tower Control online multiplayer mode tomorrow

Nintendo's multiplayer shooter Splatoon will be receiving a new ranked battle mode very soon.

Called Tower Control, the new mode will have players fighting over a moving tower come July 1. The tower is located in the middle of the map, so both teams will have an equal chance of reaching it first. As players defend the tower, it will move towards the opposing team's territory. The winner is determined by either reaching a team's base or whichever team moved the goal the most during the round.

Splatoon released in late May to positive reviews and has also sold well with Nintendo recently stating that the game has moved over one million units worldwide. Free maps, modes, and weapons have been slowly rolled out since the game released. Tower Control joins several new weapons (the Carbon Roller and Burst Bombs) as the latest additions to Splatoon.
