Splatoon’s first Splatfest in North America rescheduled for next week

Let the fierce competition begin — for real this time

Splatoon was originally to have its first community event for North America this past Saturday, but Nintendo called it off due to matchmaking difficulties when Japan had their session. Evidently, they've nipped whatever problems they feared would re-emerge on Saturday, as the Splatfest has just been given a new date and time.

Nintendo confirmed today that the first Splatfest for Splatoon players in North America will take place next Saturday, July 4 from 12:00 AM PST / 3:00 AM EST to 11:59 PM PST / 2:59 AM EST, meaning a full 24 hours to prove your loyalty for whichever side you elect to represent. The theme for this debut event is Cats vs. Dogs, so be sure to cast your ballot at the in-game station next to the shops so you can get a limited-edition T-shirt for your character to wear during the proceedings.

Actually, before doing that, you might want to first check if you have any plans that day, in which case you may have been screwed over by the new date.
