Square Enix kicks off new game reveal with incredibly vague teaser

Three-day interactive experience will reveal new Square Enix game

If today wasn't such a slow day, I'd probably not even waste my time writing about Square Enix's livestream today which kicks off a "unique 3-day interactive experience" that will eventually reveal a new game from one of the company's Western studios.

The stream, which is being advertised with the hashtag "#CantKillProgress," began with a live-action video of a young man held hostage in a dimly lit room. Via security camera feeds, we then saw two men enter and demand what kind of music the hostage likes: folk or classic. Once the Twitch viewers voted, a short scene played.

You can follow the Square Enix stream on Twitch, but at this point all we see is the young man lying still in the middle of the room. The next vote, which will presumably come with another clip, will occur at 6:00pm ET (3:00pm PT), so there's no sense in keeping it tuned to the stream.

As to save you some time repeatedly checking back for updates, Square Enix has already posted the times of the upcoming votes. There are three more votes tomorrow followed by one final vote on Wednesday, April 8th at 8:30am PT/11:30am ET at which point we expect to learn the identity of the new game. Many fans are speculating it to be a new Deus Ex.

There's also an Instagram set up for the project, which currently hosts a short video featuring glitchy footage of what appears to be someone in a yellow hood scuffling with another person.
