Square Enix shares jaw dropping Project Athia for PS5 & PC

During yesterday’s jam-packed PlayStation 5 event, Square Enix quickly teased a next-gen game called Project Athia. The game is still in early development with its name even being a working title but what is shown so far is very promising. You can watch the teaser trailer here!

A lot of games were unveiled yesterday, so it’s only understandable that some quickly fell to the sidelines. Even more so when all we got was a teaser trailer for a title that’s still far off from release. For crying out loud, Project Athia doesn’t even have a proper name yet!

But that shouldn’t prevent you from getting excited. With gaming powerhouse Square Enix and their cutting edge tech department Luminous Productions. The name might not ring a bell but it should. It’s a subsidiary from Square Enix that was instrumental in the creation of Final Fantasy XV. The outstanding visuals from Project Athia now ought to make much more sense.

Developer Luminous Productions seeks to create games unlike anything experienced before. To that end, Project Athia will harness the full power of the PlayStation 5, fusing state of the art technology with incredible art to create an experience that will be utterly unique and completely memorable.
It will take you to a world filled with beauty and dismay, and set you on an action-packed story-led adventure that’s twisted, tempestuous and forbidding in equal measure.

Since it’s still early days for this game, we barely know anything about the game itself. From the teaser, we can gauge a couple of things, however. For one, the protagonist is female with fantastical powers. In terms of mechanics, it looks to focus a lot on flashy and fast traversal with real-time combat featuring demon-like aberrations.

One thing we do know however is that the game will only come out for the PlayStation 5 and PC. Yes, the age of console exclusives is continuing.
