Square Enix to talk ‘Future of Final Fantasy’ at E3 2013

Square Enix is hosting a special press event at E3 next week dedicated solely to Final Fantasy. We don't know exactly what will be shown, but judging by the name of the event — "The Future of Final Fantasy" — we can guess Square Enix will be showing… well, the future of Final Fantasy.

This likely means that the new Final Fantasy game which was teased during the PlayStation 4 will be revealed. It's presumed that the new game will use Square Enix's next-gen Luminous engine, but we can't say for certain. Final Fantasy brand director Shinji Hashimoto is also holding a "special Q&A session" during it.

The Future of Final Fantasy event will be open to press from 9:00 – 10:00 am Pacific on Tuesday, June 11th. This is the first day the E3 show floor opens, so expect to see plenty of Final Fantasy news early on.  With Sony's own PlayStation media briefing set for Monday, June 10th at 6:00 pm Pacific, it's possible, though unclear at this point, if this supposed new game will be shown then or kept a secret until the special Square Enix event the next day. We do know for certain that the PlayStation 4 is getting a new Final Fantasy game; we just have to wait for the details.
