Squirrel Girl coming to MCU via Marvel’s New Warriors

But who will join her?

It's official! Someone contact Anna Kendrick because Squirrel Girl is coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She will lead a new team of superheroes known as the New Warriors, which will come to ABC's Freeform. Kevin Biegel of Cougar Town and Scrubs fame will pen the script and serve as showrunner, with 10 episodes coming in 2018. The show has been described as a "balls out" comedy and will feature six heroes, although the only hero confirmed in the lineup is the aforementioned Doreen Green AKA Squirrel Girl.

Whilst you may wonder what anyone with the power of a squirrel can do to fight crime, Doreen has an impressive array of powers. She has a powerful tail, buck teeth that can chew through wood, superhuman agility and strength, knuckle spikes and sharp claws, and most importantly the power to call upon a horde of squirrels. In her first appearance in Marvel Super-Heroes #8 in 1992, she helped Iron Man defeat Doctor Doom. So yeah, don't mess with Squirrel Girl.

New Warriors joins Cloak and Dagger, another Marvel show at Freeform, with both airings sometime in 2018.
