I'm usually very skeptical about games that try to do "everything." Limitations are a necessity, but admitting them doesn't help you sell a game, regardless of how "understanding" fans attempt to be. Gamers are dreamers, and games that demo loads of features always resonate well around the internet. Unfortunately, dreams do not equal reality, and at the end of the day, it takes a lot of time to deliver games with said "loads of features." More time than fans are willing to wait, despite what they may say. Want an example? Just Google "Star Citizen is a" and you will see.
Star Citizen is quite an undertaking, and its promise alone has netted the game over $100 million in crowdfunding. Star Citizen wants to be the ultimate Sci-Fi game. Go anywhere, do anything. And by all accounts, their demos are some of the most impressive technical feats in gaming history. To be the "ultimate Sci-Fi game," Chris Roberts and his team have been working on Star Citizen's FPS mechanics, and as you can see above, the results seem very promising.
Star Citizen is still a very long ways off, as its next big milestone coming up will be the launch of Alpha Version 3.0 which will bring the seamless planetary landings that were shown off at Gamescom 2016. There is currently no release date for Alpha Version 3.0, but more will likely be revealed at CitizenCon 2016 on Sunday, October 9th.
