Star Fox 2 devs throw long overdue launch party with game’s impending release on SNES Classic

Live it up fellas.

In the wake of the SNES Classic reveal, the biggest news to come out of it (outside of its existence) was the fact that the previously unreleased Star Fox 2 will be coming out on the console. As it turns out, the original development team had no idea that the game was coming out until the rest of the world found out, according to Kotaku. As such, they decided to throw their own launch party, a picture of which made its way to Reddit.

Star Fox 2 was canned by Nintendo despite success from the first game because, at the time, the original PlayStation and Sega Saturn had recently launched and were bringing added graphical prowess to the 3D space. As a result, the thought process was that Star Fox 2's retro 3D style would compare poorly to the games that were pouring out on other platforms, so the game was shelved.

Fortunately, times have changed, and retro is sexy, so there has never been a better time for Star Fox 2 to hit the market finally.
