Star Fox Command flying to Wii U Virtual Console next week

Fox McCloud, at your (virtual console) service

It's encouraging to see Nintendo provide a window for Star Fox fans as part of the week's events at E3, from the quirky Muppets-inspired opening to Nintendo's Digital Event, to the thrilling announcement of Star Fox Zero for the Wii U, and Star Fox 64 3D being included in their E3 sale for the Nintendo eShop. Yet another treat is in store for Star Fox fans, as Nintendo of America's Twitter confirmed today the arrival of Star Fox Command.

On June 25, fans of the cherished franchise will be able to experience or re-experience Star Fox Command, the last new entry in the series. Originally released for the Nintendo DS in 2006, Star Fox Command will be available later this month on the Wii U's Virtual Console service for $9.99.

Sadly, like in the case of the Virtual Console versions of Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros., there stands no functionality for wireless multiplayer play, meaning you won't get to witness the full breadth of what Star Fox Command has to offer. Still, if you missed out on the chance to play the game, it'll be a rousing time to plan another flight plan with your Arwing.
