Square Enix has revealed that Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness is currently in development by tri-Ace, the studio that worked on the game series in the past. Star Ocean 5 is around 30% complete and is being developed for the PS3 and ported to PS4.
The game itself is set in year 537, putting it between Star Ocean 2 and 3. Tri-Ace is not considering featuring any story dlc that will could potentially break up the game or offer a "full" version of the game post-release. “I sincerely don’t want to do anything with this game that’ll upset people even a little bit,” says the game's producer Shuichi Kobayashi.
It seems as though the team at tri-Ace is holding Star Ocean fans in the utmost respect; Kobayashi went on to say,“Star Ocean 5 is about bringing a sense of reassurance back to longtime fans, which is why the game’s logo is reminiscent of Star Ocean 3‘s.”
Protagonist: Fidel Camus
Star Ocean 5 is set on Feycreed, a planet 6,000 years away from Earth and that is currently uncivilized. Tri-Ace revealed some specifics on the game in their reveal:
