Star Trek Beyond teaser trailer showing before Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens might be the biggest movie event of our lifetime. With The Force Awakens selling 8 times the amount of pre-sale tickets than the previous record holder, there's a good chance that it becomes the #1 grossing movie of all-time. Needless to say, trailer time before the film will be at a premium.

One trailer you can expect to see is the promo for Star Trek Beyond. The third film in the Star Trek series (which was rebooted by JJ Abrams) will be showing before Star Wars: The Force Awakens when it opens on December 18. Abrams' production company, Bad Robot, rebooted Star Trek in 2009 and continued with Star Trek Into Darkness. While Abrams gave up Star Trek for Star Wars, Bad Robot is based at Paramount.

Justin Lin of Fast & Furious fame will be directing Star Trek Beyond. It stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Idris Elba, John Cho and Zoe Saldana. Star Trek Beyond opens in theaters on July 22.
