To put it frankly, there is some growing concern about Star Wars: Battlefront 2 in the wake of the game's Beta, namely due to what looks like a pay-to-win model. While that still can't be entirely confirmed until the game is out in full, fans are clearly uneasy and also feel as though neither EA nor DICE is adequately taking the time to assuage these fears.
In an unrelated thread on the Star Wars: Battlefront subreddit, Senior Level Designer, Peter Vesti told fans that DICE is "reading pretty much everything" that fans write online even though they aren't always commenting. Vesti couldn't speak on behalf of Battlefront's Loot Box system since he is a level designer, but added that if they aren't commenting on something it's because "we don't feel we can add anything useful to the discussion."
Here's the full comment:
Despite Vesti's expertise in only Level Design, he does appear to be speaking for the whole company. EA has previously stepped forward in an attempt to dissuade the notion of Battlefront 2 being pay to win, but their response wasn't honestly anything more than the usual "you can progress just by playing the game" mantra we usually hear.
It's unfortunate that with such a promising game on the horizon, the only thing on most fans' minds is whether or not one decision will tear it all down.
