Star Wars Battlefront 2: EA explains why they also reduced the cost of campaign credit payout by 75%

Yesterday, EA decided to cut the cost of heroes in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 by 75% after access to the game through the EA Access 10-hour trial revealed that the top heroes were locked behind 40 hours of play each.

EA announced that Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will now be available for 15,000 credits each instead of 60,000 each; Emperor Palpatine, Chewbacca, and Leia Organa for 10,000 credits each instead of 40,000 each; and Iden at 5,000 credits instead of 20,000.

Nowhere in the announcement did EA mention that they would also be cutting the credit payout of the campaign in Star Wars: Battlefront 2 by 75% as well. After the update hit the game and cut the cost of heroes, it was discovered that the campaign, which had offered 20,000 credits before, now doled out 5,000 credits upon completion.

According to EA (in a conversation with Andrew Reinder), the reason is that the campaign is intended to give players just enough credits to purchase Iden.

"The reward for finishing the campaign is meant to be enough credits to unlock Iden – which has been lowered to 5000 credits. That’s the only area of the game where the rewards were lowered to match the changes."

In addition to this, it has been noted that the game has a time-based cap on rewards while in Arcade mode. Once you hit the cap, you have to wait 14 hours.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 is set to launch on November 17th.
