With Gamescom 2017 on its way, Electronic Arts has revealed some of their plans for the show as it pertains to DICE's upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront 2. EA will be pulling the curtain back on the game's Starfighter Assault Mode, returning space combat to the series which was sorely lacking in DICE's first effort. The mode will debut in a "never-before-seen trailer, and a live gameplay debut" that will go down on Monday, August 21st, 2017 at 9 AM PST on EA.com.
The gameplay demo will feature two teams taking part in an original trilogy era space battle between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance. EA promises "vastly improved starfighter combat" and "deeper customization" that will compliment an all-new class system that will hopefully add some much-needed intrigue to gameplay that many (myself included) just skipped over altogether in the original game.
The map that the game will take place in is called Fondor: Imperial Shipyard which will join the Theed Galactic Assualt map that we saw at E3 2017 for the game's beta that begins on October 6th, 2017 (or October 4th if you pre-order).
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 releases on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 17th, 2017.
