Earlier this week, Electronic Arts revealed when the Star Wars Battlefront beta would be making its way into our hands. The beta is set to release on October 8 on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (via Origin) and will last until October 12, but before it releases there are a couple things you should now.
On October 7th, a day before the beta releases, PC players will be able to pre-load the beta via Origin beginning at 1am PT/10am CET. To pre-load the beta, players will have to check here to grab the download when it's available.
The beta download will be around 7GB on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and 11GB on PC.
Once you get into the beta, you will be faced with a level cap. After level five you won't be able to level up any more, but you will still be able to unlock items in the beta. Anything you unlock, all your stats and progression will not carry over to the game once it makes release.
The beta will allow players to experience three modes:
- Walker Assault on Hoth: Fight in epic 40-player battles as a Rebel to destroy the Empire’s onslaught of AT-AT’s by calling in Y-wing bombers. Or, side with the Empire and protect your walkers while utilizing their mighty weaponry to crush the Rebel objective.
- Drop Zone on Sullust: Escape pods are crashing down and you and your team must fight to control them. With its frantic 8v8 matches, Drop Zone is sure to put your combat and strategy skills to the test.
- Survival Mission on Tatooine: Play alone or with a friend via co-op or split-screen as you battle to hold off waves of Imperial forces including AT-ST’s, TIE fighters, elite stormtroopers and more.
When the beta launches players will be able to download a Companion app through the Apple App Sore and Google Play store that will allow players to view in-game states and offers a game called "Base Command" that unlocks items in Battlefront.
