The Star Wars Battlefront Companion app, designed to "enhance your Star Wars Battlefront experience," is now available.
Although Star Wars Battlefront doesn't release for another week, the companion app does offer some features to keep you busy while waiting. Like, Base Command, a tactical, card-based game where you fend off waves of Imperial turn-based "Sieges" on a Rebel base.
In Base Command, you're given two decks of cards. The first is a deck of Unit Cards, consisting of Rebel Soldiers, A-wings, T-47 airspeeders, and X-Wings. You'll also have a deck of Star Cards that consists of powerful boosts and strikes that can enhance your Unit Cards.
Each enemy Siege contains a selection of modifiers for enemy units known as Perks; these grant the Imperial forces with special abilities to increase the challenge. To succeed in the later stages, you'll have to have a keen understanding of the different combinations of Perks.
So why do you want to play Base Command? By surviving Sieges in Base Command, you'll earn in-game credits that can be used to unlock Star Cards, weapons, and more in Star Wars Battlefront. Reversely, Star Cards earned in Star Wars Battlefront will automatically become available in Base Command.
Base Command currently offers 50 Sieges of increasing difficulty. Between today and November 17th, the first campaign of 8 Sieges will be available, with all 50 going live on November 17th.
In addition to Base Command, the Star Wars Companion app will offer the ability to customize your loadout, connect with friends, view stats, and more. You can download the app today from the Apple App Store and Google Play store.
