Star Wars Battlefront delay is ‘not going to happen’

Electronic Arts is no stranger to game delays, their most recent major delay was Battlefield Hardline moving from 2014 to March 2015. The last two Battlefield games have even felt the wrath of nearly unacceptable launch issues. You could say the developers have learned their lesson and if need be, will apply it to Star Wars Battlefront.

EA's Peter Moore has revealed that delaying games (like Battlefield Hardline) are "not the easiest thing" to do, but are the "right thing to do from a player perspective." The developers are confident in Star Wars: Battlefront, but taking from what they have learned thus far – if it needs more time, it will get it.

“You can’t ship it if it doesn’t work or the quality isn’t right,” Moore explained in an interview with MCV. “You just bite the bullet. We’d have no compunction, no hesitation that if something went wrong with Battlefront, if it wasn’t right, we would just push it.

“But that’s not going to happen. The game is playable with 40-players already, and it is rock solid, so it ain’t going to happen.”

Many games with online multiplayer components suffer launch issues. The online component of Grand Theft Auto 5, GTA Online, was met with server stability issues at launch and Blizzard's MMO World of Warcraft goes through the same struggle with the launch of every expansion (I've been there, felt the pain).

It's rare to find a highly anticipated game have absolutely no issues at launch, hopefully Star Wars: Battlefront is one of those games.

Star Wars Battlefront is set to hit the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 17, 2015.
