The fan made Star Wars Battlefront-inspired game “Galaxy in Turmoil” may still see the light of day after all.
After receiving a cease and desist order from Lucasfilm because of its exclusive licensing agreement with EA, developer Frontwire Studios has been hard at work tweaking the game, announcing it will be releasing a demo for Galaxy in Turmoil during Q3 2017.
As for why they’re waiting that long to release the demo, Frontwire president Tony Romanelli took to the Galaxy in Turmoil site to say this:
“We want to make sure that the GiT demo is 100% playable and bug-free,” he continued. “We refuse to crowdfund until you get the chance to play our demo and decide if you believe in the project enough to support us monetarily.”
“So we need to make sure we take as much time as possible to ensure that the demo is everything you could ever want. Rest assured, the demo will still contain a single player story (that I believe will BLOW you away) and multiplayer game modes with various maps and vehicles.”
Some additional revelations – Romanelli says Frontwire remains committed to releasing the game for free on Steam, and is currently in “very positive” talks with Microsoft to bring the game for free on Xbox. Romanelli also says EA didn’t want to take away any focus from their current Battlefront franchise, and LucasFilm was “totally supportive and encouraged us to continue with the project as an ‘inspired by’ game.”
