In its latest community update, developer DICE took to the Star Wars Battlefront blog to address several of fans’ more heated questions.
First on the chopping block: There will be no Star Wars Battlefront special edition Xbox One consoles. The bundles will remain exclusive to PlayStation 4. Pre-orders will be announced when they become available. However, a Collector’s Edition of the game will not be available; only standard and deluxe editions will be printed.
The games included in Battlefront’s PS4 bundle will be available individually via the PlayStation Store at a later date. In addition, the custom DualShock 4 controller included in the bundle may be sold separately later this year. DICE has stated it has “nothing to announce at this time,” but advises prospective buyers to follow Sony’s news channels for future updates.
Star Wars Battlefront will feature a multiplayer progression system that unlocks new equipment as you level up. How this system will handle different classes, races and factions remains to be seen. Additional details will be released in the coming months.
These multiplayer details follow the reveal of Blast, a 10v10 team deathmatch mode, and Supremacy, which was strongly influenced by the command-and-conquer gameplay of Star Wars Battlefront 2. Vehicles will be a key part of these and other game types, especially Fighter Squadron mode, which will also include Hero vehicles.
DICE’s take on the franchise will also remain faithful to some of its playable Villains and Heroes, as Boba Fett’s newly revealed arsenal illustrates.
