Star Wars Battlefront’s 4 ‘new’ modes aren’t new, and were already detailed weeks ago

Yesterday, IGN reported that four new Star Wars Battlefront multiplayer modes were revealed ahead of the game's beta — modes that have "yet to be officially announced or detailed."

They are: Supremacy, Blast, Cargo, and Droid Run.

Here's the thing, though. Two of those modes have not only been announced already, but they've also been detailed. The other team, meanwhile, have only been announced. Not only are the modes mentioned (some detailed) on EA's actual Star Wars Battlefront site, but we actually wrote about them weeks, even months, ago.

I don't know how IGN missed it, but here's a reminder of what we know.

Blast is a fancy name for Battlefront's 10v10 team deathmatch. The rules are simple: first to 100 kills, or the leading team when the 10-minute timer ends, wins. Blast matches are played on custom-made, condensed maps that DICE insists "aren't just smaller versions of maps used elsewhere." Note: Blast was first revealed and detailed in July.

Next up is Supremacy, a "love letter to Battlefront 2." As previously detailed, Supremacy returns to the control point-centric play of Star Wars Battlefront 2’s Conquest mode, and sees players fight for five points throughout the map. Both teams spawn with control of two points and must then start the inevitable dog-fight over the fifth. Victory goes to the first team to claim all five points, or to the team in control of the majority at the end of each 10-minute round. Note: Supremacy was first revealed in detailed in August.

Just another quick note, EA has also already revealed quite a few other multiplayer modes, including Fighter Squadron, Walker Assault, and Drop Zone, in addition to the co-op adventures.

So of the four modes "leaked" in the beta, there are only two we don't know the details for: Cargo and Droid Run — but they are hardly a surprise seeing as how EA's Star Wars Battlefront website already mentions them.

Sorry to burst the hype bubble, but there's still plenty to look forward to, with Battlefront's beta kicking off this week and all.
