Electronic Arts may have given Star Wars fans a taste of The Force Awakens with Star Wars Battlefront's free Battle of Jakku DLC, but it sounds like that's as far as Electronic Arts and DICE will deviate from the original trilogy.
When asked by a fan on Twitter if future Battlefront DLC will include Episode 7 (The Force Awakens) content, the publisher/developer said that they are only focusing on the original trilogy for this iteration of Star Wars Battlefront.
@ninjachris404 Our team is focusing on the original trilogy for this release of Star Wars Battlefront.

Although disappointing, it sounds as though Electronic Arts does eventually plan to cover the newer films (and possibly the dreaded prequel trilogy) in future Battlefront installments. For now, though, it's original trilogy.
EA plans to add a mix of free and paid content to the game in the coming year. The Battle of Jakku DLC was released in December for free, allowing fans to participate in the great battle that took place on and above the desert planet 29 years before Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The DLC features two new maps and a new gameplay mode.
The first of four planned expansions for the Battlefront Season Pass will release in early 2016. All together, Battlefront's expansions will include over 20 pieces of galactic tech, four more heroes and villains, 16 additional maps, and four new game modes.
