The Star Wars prequels are widely regarded as bad movies, except for maybe Revenge of the Sith (most people seem to like that one). There are some people who defend them to the death for a number of reasons but a lot of the people involved in the actual making of Star Wars seem to just kind of ignore them. There's very little acknowledgment (aside for some jabs) of the prequels in Star Wars: The Force Awakens or Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
One Star Wars director (Rian Johnson, director of Looper and Episode VIII) thinks the prequels are a lot deeper than they let on and defended them on Twitter.
@HeerJeet Pssst. Devil's advocate: the prequels are a 7 hour long kids movie about how fear of loss turns good people into fascists. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Where do you fall on the prequels? Do you hate them or love them? Did Johnson slightly sway your opinion (he swayed mine a bit)? Let us know in the comments below!
Star Wars: Episode VIII releases in theaters next December.
