Star Wars: Rogue One Opens in China to the Tune of $31 Million

And it's somehow called a "tepid" release.

Star Wars: Rogue One opened in China January 6, which is the second-largest movie market in the world.  In the first three days in China, Rogue One made $31 million.

According to CNBC, that's a fairly "tepid" haul. While Rogue One made about 60% less than what The Force Awakens made in its first two days in China, it was never expected to make as much in the first place.

Over this past weekend, Rogue One was unsurprisingly the number one movie at the box office. Worldwide,  Rogue One has now made over $914 million and easily slots itself in the top 5 movies of 2016.
