Star Wars Rogue One reportedly getting “extensive reshoots” after poor testing results

Disney execs not happy with first cut of the film

It was always going to be tough for Rogue One, the upcoming Star Wars spin off directed by Gareth Edwards, to reach the high bar set by The Force Awakens. If the new rumors are anything to go by, Rogue One isn't even coming close to the bar.

Rogue One is set between Episodes III and IV of the Star Wars saga, focusing on a  group of rebels tasked with stealing the plans for the Death Star. It’s an awesome sounding story, and the first trailer has people hungry for more. However, according to Hollywood sources close to Page Six,  extensive reshoots are apparently planned this July, more intensive and expensive than were originally expected.

“The execs at Disney are not happy with the movie, and ‘Rogue One’ will have to go back into four weeks of expensive reshoots in July,” said the source.

Page Six’s source went on to detail that Disney is demanding changes as the movie is not testing well, and that these reshoots are necessary in order to meet fan expectations.

“Disney won’t take a back seat, and is demanding changes, as the movie isn’t testing well.”

Whether or not these reshoots change the quality of the film, one can only hope that the first Star Wars spin off film is as great as we expect. We will find out when the film releases December 16th, if it does indeed hit that date.
