Star Wars: Squadrons available now on PC & Consoles

Motive Studios’ space combat title Star Wars: Squadrons is launching today. Gamers on the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One finally got the first true space dogfight game in the epic Star Wars franchise since almost two decades. Check out the awesome CG short to get in the mood here!

Developed by Motive Studios, Star Wars: Squadrons is a pure space dogfight game that features both a singleplayer campaign and extensive online multiplayer support. It’s pretty clear that the developer intends to establish Squadrons in the multiplayer scene with the game being basically built around team gameplay, even in solo play.

Up to five players can take on skilled ace fighter squads either online against real players or bots. But there’s more than these personal dogfights. Your squadron can also engage in massive fleet battles where the frontlines change dynamically and you have actual objectives.

Master the art of starfighter combat in the authentic piloting experience STAR WARS™: Squadrons. Buckle up and feel the adrenaline of first-person, multiplayer space dogfights alongside your squadron. Pilots who enlist will step into the cockpits of starfighters from both the New Republic and Imperial fleets and fight in strategic 5v5 space battles. Modify your starfighter, and adjust the composition of your squadron to suit varying playstyles and crush the opposition. Pilots will triumph as a team and complete tactical objectives across known and never-before-seen battlefields, including the gas giant of Yavin Prime and the shattered moon of Galitan.

Star Wars: Squadrons marks the newest video game adaption of the humongous media franchise after Respawn managed to win over fans with last year’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Up until then, both online-focused Battlefront shooters caused a lot of controversy due to excessive microtransactions.

Electronic Arts has seemingly turned around the boat and plans to deliver a worthwhile space combat spin-off with Star Wars: Squadrons. At a budget-friendly price point of just $39.99 it sure helps with the appeal.

As an added bonus, gamers on PC and PlayStation 4 with a VR headset can also look forward to experiencing the entire game in virtual reality. A perfect fit for the type of game Squadrons is.
