With the Imperial Empire having fallen in Return of the Jedi, there's many questions surrounding the existance of The First Order in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Not much is known about the workings of The First Order, but based on the trailers we've seen, it's clearly inspired by the Imperials.
Speaking to Empire (the magazine) in the soon-to-be-published October issue, director JJ Abrams shed some light on the new military junta reminiscent of the once powerful Imperial Empire. While the forming of The First Order remains a mystery, Abrams did reveal the inspiration behind the idea of the group.

"That all came out of conversations about what would have happened if the Nazis all went to Argentina but then started working together again?" Abrams revealed.
"What could be born of that? Could The First Order exist as a group that actually admired The Empire? Could the work of The Empire be seen as unfulfilled? And could Vader be a martyr? Could there be a need to see through what didn't get done?"
It's certainly an interesting line of thinking by Abrams and the writers of The Force Awakens. And I'm sure there's some hidden clues in Abrams words. With the October issue of Empire hitting stores this Thursday, August 27th, I'm sure we'll discover more about the mysteries surrounding The Force Awakens. The magazine promises to go more in-depth and behind-the-scenes of this year's most-anticipated film.
