Star Wars: The Old Republic boasts 1.7 million active users

Recently released MMORPG, Star Wars: The Old Republic, is off to a strong start.  In EA's Q3 FY12 financial report, it was revealed that SWTOR currently has 1.7 million "active subscribers" and sold more than 2 million units in a little over one month.

"Star Wars: The Old Republic is developing a committed community of players," said Chief Executive Officer John Riccitiello.

Released worldwide on December 20, 2011, SWTOR just received its first content update back in the middle of January – adding a new Flashpoint and Operation, as well as changes to the PVP system.

Since its release, SWTOR has been under the microscope with people just waiting for BioWare to mess up.  Though the game is far from the WoW killer that people predicted it would be, BioWare has still done a remarkable job with the game.  Despite a few setbacks, like a PvP exploit and a Ilum glitch, Star Wars: The Old Republic is still off to a very strong start.
