Starbound Developer Chucklefish Shows New Project ‘Advance Wars Meets Fire Emblem’

Chucklefish working on a tactical RPG and more

Finn "Tiyuri" Brice, the CEO and Designer of Chucklefish has announced that they're working on two new games and will continue to support Starbound.

While a new patch is coming soon for Starbound, Tiy also gave some details on the games they're working on. One is a tactics game, and the other is an RPG-style video. He has confirmed that the two previews are two different games.

"The first is a turn-based strategy game, a more modern spiritual successor to Advance Wars that retains some of the pixel charm," Brice tells PCGamer, "The goal is to make good use of modern tech, online multiplayer, [Steam] Workshop support, that kind of thing."

After Starbound left Early Access, Tiy had stated that they were already considering their next project. He showed images of a game described as "Advance Wars meets Fire Emblem". This teaser seems to be the game he was talking about, and the art style is very Chucklefish.

He also described the "Art Style Demonstration" video below as an RPG/Sim set in a magic school. "Something like Stardew Valley meets Harry Potter." He states that it will be filled with sim features such as a day-night cycle, dating, classes and more.

This game has been teased with the name "Spellbound" in various posts, leading to many thinking that will be its name. A magic school simulation sounds awesome, especially from an indie developer as creative as Chucklefish.
