Starbound entered Steam Early Access back in December 2013 and now after almost an eternity Starbound has finally gotten a release date!
Developer Chucklefish started the development of Starbound roughly five years ago, it entered Early Access on December 4th, 2013 and managed to earn over $1 million in just a few months, and now the full release is just around the corner. Chucklefish announced that Starbound is ready for release in just a few days, the official launch is scheduled for Friday July 22.
Though Starbound is ready for release it does not mean that Chucklefish will forget about the game, they are promising a lot of new content to roll out after the 1.0 update but what exactly this new content will contain has yet to be revealed. But some of them new content that the 1.0 update will bring has already been revealed through the official patch notes.
"After ~5 years, the game we set out to make finally exists, and to say that it all feels a bit surreal would be a massive understatement!
While Starbound will be finished in two weeks, this isn’t the end. We will continue to update and support Starbound for as long as we can. We’ve got loads of cool ideas we couldn’t fit into 1.0 but hope to put into future updates."
This sandbox game set in space is similar in style to Terraria and players can pick it up for $14.99 (€13.99) on Steam, a price which will most likely rise after Starbound's official release, so grab it while the price is right.
