ConcernedApe, the sole creator of everybody’s favorite Harvest Moon successor, Stardew Valley, has been busy lately. Recently, the game was ported to Nintendo Switch, which GameZone’s Mike Wewerka thinks ported perfectly.
The next thing on the creator’s docket was multiplayer. He was relatively quiet about the progress, but last night, he gave Twitter a surprise.
Not only did he announce that the multiplayer code is functional and solid, but he literally tested it by playing with friends at a LAN party. Why does the idea of ConcernedApe and his friends working together on a farm fill us with so many warm feelings? We probably have a dev crush on the guy, but that’s neither here nor there.
The one unfortunate part about multiplayer Stardew Valley on Nintendo Switch is that it seems like multiple Switches will be needed in order to play with others. While statistically, that shouldn’t be a problem given how many have been sold to the US market so far, it could still be a problem for some. At the same time however, multiplayer is a free update being released quite a while after the full release of the game.
No official release date has been announced for multiplayer, or if it will release across all consoles at once. But when it’s announced, you can be sure that GameZone will have covered it.
