Indie breakout hit Stardew Valley just received a huge new update. In fact, with version 1.5, the casual simulator got its biggest update yet. The update is out now on PC with console versions getting it in early 2021.
Since the new update is so massive, the list of changes, improvements, and additions is likewise huge. You can read all about it in the extensive changelog here. In short, the big pillars of it are as following:
- New World Area ‘Ginger Island’
- New ‘Beach’ farm layout
- Advanced Game Options
- Local split-screen multiplayer
- New farm animal ostrich
- Greenhouse and beds can now be moved
- Added home renovations
- Gender and name can now be changed
These are only some of the standout aspects of the 1.5 update, and as expected there’s a bunch more. Dozens of new crops, trees, craftable items, cosmetics, weapons, and much more are now in Stardew Valley. Of course, the new update also fixes a plethora of bugs, too.
But the big highlight is the new island and befitting beach farm layout. Thus, these two alone should be plenty of reasons to start a new character and adventure for players. Likewise, the inclusion of a local split-screen multiplayer mode is no doubt a huge new feature. Especially, for a relaxing game like Stardew Valley.
The spiritual successor to the Harvest Moon series is one of the best and most popular indie sensations of the past decade. Thanks to excellent ports on every major platform, gamers everywhere can enjoy it.
Update 1.5 is only available on PC for the time being. But console owners won’t have to wait too long to enjoy all the new content and features. Developer ConcernedApe targets early 2021 to update the console versions of Stardew Valley on PS4, Xbox One, and Switch.
