Farming RPG Stardew Valley has been in the works for over three years, yet nobody ever anticipated it to make the waves it has. The endearingly simple, powerfully addictive title has taken Steam by storm and is rapidly approaching 500 thousand copies sold after just two weeks.
It comes as no surprise, then, that a lively modding community has sprung up around it. Naturally, one of the first questions asked in a game filled with dogs, cows, sheep, horses and other barnyard classics was, “Wouldn’t it be cool if these animals were all Pokémon?”
As it turns out, it is pretty cool. See dogs become Growlithes; horses, Ponytas; cows, Miltanks; chickens, Torchics; and several other conversions, with more on the way. Pokédew Valley is a community effort and is constantly updated with new and alternative sprites. Hopefully someone will add a Lapras soon, though I admit I’m not sure where one belongs.
