If you're currently playing the Xbox One port of the stellar Stardew Valley, chances are you may have encountered a glitch that has the potential to ruin your game by corrupting your save file completely. A lot of Xbox players have been emailing the developers about it, and they have responded by announcing a patch that is currently in the works. The fix is supposed to come in the next patch, but currently, there is no word when it will release.
The bug itself is said to be associated with some "threading-related code we had to add for the console release," said one developer in the Stardew Valley forums. It is believed that the patch will fix the save files that have already been corrupted and any files that are created from here on will not be affected.
The developers have also listed a couple of other things they believe the bug is responsible for. Here's that list:
- Crashes when speaking to Gunther
- Glitched objects, invisible objects
- Crashes when harvesting certain crops
- Crashes when visiting specific areas of the farm
- … and probably several other weird, XB1-specific bugs
It should also be noted that the save file corruption bug is currently only affecting Xbox One players, so if you are on PC, Mac, Linux, or PS4, you should be okay.
