State of Decay is about as close a simulation of The Walking Dead's world as there is. Yes, TellTale's games may officially utilize the brand, but State of Decay's world moves independently of the player in ways that narrative adventures simply can't. We got a reveal of the series's second entry back at E3 2016, but details since then have been scarce at best.
All we know is that State of Decay 2 is due to be "Substantially Larger" than the first game, but that's pretty much it. Naturally, the silence has caused fans to ask developer Undead Labs about the status of the game, and in a new blog post on the company's website, we got a small insight as to when we can expect to hear something.
Unfortunately, it looks like we may have to wait another six months before that happens, as PlayDead Labs said that they are targeting E3 2017 as the date for their big media blowout. They said:
"Plenty of people have asked us to give the community the gift of the SOD2 release date. We can’t do that just yet, but here’s what we can tell you: The release date will be revealed, along with gameplay, systems, and so much more, at E3 2017. So pace yourselves, mark your calendars, and get ready to party with us this June….I’m happy to tell you those quiet years are at an end. Huge wheels are in motion, and I can assure you 2017 is going to be a very exciting year to be a State of Decay fan."
The E3 2016 reveal trailer was certainly tantalizing, and we can't wait to see more in six months.
