In January we heard that the Steam Controller's design has been finalized, we never found out just what 'finalized' meant though. Sure, we knew that it meant Valve had settled on a design, but that didn't say how much had changed since its initial reveal. It turns out that quite a bit has changed.
The controller has gone from being entirely new to being a meld of things we have experienced before. One of the dual trackpads (the big circles) has a D-pad design on it — the design does not mean it functions like a d-pad, it just creates a more familiar atmosphere for the user.
The touchscreen, in the middle, has been exchanged for a more formal approach (think Xbox controller) with the home button surrounded by two buttons. Four buttons (A, B, X, Y) have joined in on the fun in the front of the controller.
Also, if you haven't noticed — there's an analogue stick now!
It has been reported that the controllers rear holds six more buttons: two triggers, two bumpers, and two unspecified buttons.
The Steam Controller will release in November for $49.99.
