A Steam page for Paradox Development Studios' upcoming game has gone live before the studio had the chance to reveal the game themselves. The Steam page has since been taken down, but not before screenshots immortalized the page.
The game, titled Stellaris, is described by Paradox Development Studios as follows:
Explore a vast galaxy full of wonder! Paradox Development Studio, makers of Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis series presents Stellaris, an evolution of the grand strategy genre with space exploration at its core.
Reddit user Thegreenorbit had the opportunity to watch the trailer on the page, describing it as, "The trailer was a ship flying through space next to some planets and then it ends on meeting an unknown space station. (Think maybe third person view of an elite dangerous ship)." Another Reddit user, BFFarnsworth, managed to grab all of the screenshots before they vanished.
The screenshots show off a timer in the upper right hand corner, suggesting that the game will use real-time strategy. It looks as though portions of the galaxy fall under the rule of different factions. Looking at the symbol in the upper left, that matches the red Kingdom of Yondarim, players will be able to take control of one of the factions and work to take over the galaxy.
There is a chance this game will be online and pit player factions against other player factions. Although it's all hearsay until Paradox Development Studios makes the official announcement tomorrow at 3PM ET during Gamescom 2015.
The game was first logged on Steam a year ago, that means Stellaris has been in the works for quite a while.
