Steam pulls a fast one with GTA 5 discount

Today marks the first day of Steam's annual Summer Sale, and of course, a slew of games on sale everywhere from 25% to 75% off. Not bad! It also comes with its own monster meta game which we'll get into a little later.

However, one of the most exciting titles on sale for today, at least for a lot of PC owners, was that GTA 5 was apparently 50% off. Awesome! GTA 5 for $30 is a steal!

Except it looks like that wasn't Steam's intention at all.

Just a few minutes after the Summer Sale went live, the page updated and the deal was gone. The game was still on sale, except not the game by itself. Now, the only way to buy GTA 5 is to purchase it as a bundle with either Max Payne 3 or San Andreas, but for $59.99, which is base price. Sure you're getting Max Payne 3 or San Andreas but there is a big chance you might already own either of those games, as they've been previously sold for extremely cheap.

But it's pretty shady that Valve/Steam/Rockstar chose to take the base game off the store completely and only sell it as part of a bundle.
