Stephen King's 1986 horror novel 'It' is getting another film adaptation, set to release next year. Back in 1990, It was released in film as a miniseries set 30 years apart. The series, Part 1 and 2, were based on a monster that had the ability to transform itself into what people feared the most.
The new two-part series will be seeing a bigger release than an ABC series, with a September 8th, 2017 release date. The film is said to be directed by Andy Muscietti, the same man who directed Mama.
Details on the film are scarce, though it has been said that the film will be very close to its literary counterpart.
“It is very close to the source material in one way but very different if you look at it as a literary piece of work,” said producer Roy Lee to EW in February. “We’re taking it and making the movie from the point of view of the kids, and then making another movie from the point of view of the adults, that could potentially then be cut together like the novel. But it’s gonna be a really fun way of making this movie.”
