Stephen’s Sausage Roll might be the most unusual candidate for Indie GOTY ever

How does one think of these things? Then again if it's this great, who cares? In perusing around the internet like any other sane person would do, I happened upon one of the weirdest games I have ever seen, Stephen's Sausage Roll. I swear, I thought it was a joke at first. But then I checked it out on Metacritic. The game's got an average score of 93 overall.

Granted, it's a small sample size at only 5 total reviews, but after reading what some other journalists had to say, I don't think this one's going away.

Just check this out:

Destructoid:

"I will forever point to this as an example of "how to design a game." The most beautiful thing is how new concepts are introduced. Naturally, playing through a level involves a lot of experimentation. With the ability to undo and restart at will, it's easy to try something, watch it probably fail, then simply revert back. In doing this, players will "accidentally" discover things that will later become core ideas needed to complete levels."

Destructoid is no slouch when it comes to Game Reviews, so if they are giving the game a 100 there's something legit going on here. The game also retails for $30, which (unless they are absolutely shafting us) indicates that there's a lot of value in this package.

The official description for the game is about as general as it gets.

"A simple 3d puzzle game."

But if the reviews are any indication, its simplistic nature might be the beginning of something special.
