Steve Jobs movie with Michael Fassbender and Seth Rogen gets a release date

Last week, the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic starring Michael Fassbender as Jobs added Seth Rogen to the cast. He will be portraying Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. When that announcement was made, the film didn't have a release date. That has since changed. Universal Pictures has announced that the film will be released on Friday, October 9, 2015.

Steve Jobs is being directed by Danny Boyle (127 Hours), and the script was written by Oscar-winner Aaron Sorkin. In addition to Fassbender and Rogen, the rest of the cast has a ton of star power. Kate Winslet is starring as Joanna Hoffman, former Mac marketing chief; Jeff Daniels is John Scully, Apple's former CEO; Katherine Waterson plays Chrisann Brennan, Jobs' ex-girlfriend; and Makenzie Moss and Perla Haney-Jardine will be playing Jobs' daughter Lisa at different points in her life.

Here's the synopsis for Steve Jobs:

Set backstage at three iconic product launches and ending in 1998 with the unveiling of the iMac, the film takes us behind the scenes of the digital revolution to paint an intimate portrait of the brilliant man at its epicenter.

Sorkin's script is based on the Walter Isaacson biography of Jobs — the only authorized book about Jobs. The script supposedly revolves around three 30-minute scenes taking place backstage prior to key product launches with Jobs, playing out in real-time. It's like the 24 of Steve Jobs.

Steve Jobs will release October 9, 2015.
