Last weekend, ESPN2 aired the Street Fighter V Evo 2017 finals live from Las Vegas and they did the same thing that they did last year, but this time with a different player and fighter. Last year, ESPN deemed that R.Mika's costume was too revealing for TV and asked that pro gamer Fuudao change her costume to a less revealing costume.
This year, ESPN asked a pro gamer to change Cammy's outfit to a less revealing outfit during. Now, there's something in common between the two fighters – they both wear thongs. Cammy's default costume has a thong and so does R. Mika's.
According to Compete, Ryota "Kazunoko" Inoue’s agent confirmed that the costume change was a request from the Evo staffer: “He says he was asked to change costume by tournament organizer and he’s not sure why they asked.”
When ESPN was asked about the costume change, a representative confirmed that it was indeed over the thong: “The request was made per broadcast standards.”
Kazunoko changed Cammy into her formal wear DLC outfit, which was much more presentable for the event (by ESPN's standards).
