Street Fighter 5 data mining reveals new fighters, roster and more

Both the first and second Street Fighter V public betas have experienced issues getting up and running, leaving fans twiddling their thumbs. It looks like they weren't twiddling their thumbs for long though, data mining, courtesy of NeoGaf, of the beta files has revealed that there are two new characters, as well as returning characters.

If you have heard any rumors of Alex and Ibuki being playable in the game – prepare to have your hopes dashed. Game files have revealed that their profiles have been written as background characters – but there's always a chance that Alex will be playable.

Strings straight from the game's executable files have revealed story illustrations, that wouldn't be found for background characters. So, who's joining the game? Tut and Fan. Who is returning? Dhalsim. Who might be joining the roster? Guile, Sim, Ibuki, Urien, Balrog, and Juri.

Files have been found for all of these characters, with full rigging – suggesting that they are playable. Of course, as this is a beta file, anything can be changed before the game's release and it doesn't account for the possibility of characters being added through DLC.

Here's the character roster:

  • RYU
  • CHUN-LI
  • NASH
  • VEGA
  • BIRDIE
  • CAMMY
  • DHALSIM
  • LAURA
  • KEN
  • KARIN
  • NECALLI
  • R.MIKA
  • RASHID
  • ZANGIEF

New Characters with unconfirmed full names:

  • FAN
  • TUT

Character that might be joining:

  • Guile
  • Sim
  • Ibuki
  • Balrog
  • Juri
  • Urien
