Street Fighter V player obliterates world record

Gamers have been setting world records for a while now. Everything from speed runs to highest scores and more have been racked up against numerous games. A new world record in Street Fighter V, however, is doubly impressive for its combination of speed and longevity.

Ryan Hart set the Guinness World Record for "Most consecutive opponents fought in Street Fighter V" at a GAME store in the U.K. yesterday. During the course of his play, Ryan beat the 260 straight opponents required over the course of 11 hours. In fact, not only did he beat the requirement, but he destroyed it by totaling 323 straight victories. Now, for some quick math, that amounts to Ryan beating each opponent in an average of 2 minutes, 2.4 seconds. The rules stated that each match consisted of three rounds with each round having a 99 second time limit, and goes to show just how quickly Ryan dominated his opponent each time.

Even more impressive is that every single match had to be played continuously over the 11 hour stretch with no rest breaks. That's right, not a single pee break. For 11 hours. Ryan also decimated the 90% win threshold needed as only 225 wins were required to achieve the record. Ryan commented on the achievement by saying

“I'm thrilled to have set a new Guinness World Record for Street Fighter V, I feel it compliments the longevity my gaming career has had and I'm really happy about that. Not being allowed to take any breaks whatsoever for 11 hours was really tough. There were times in the challenge where I just wanted it to be over but I tried to stay calm and think in small steps."

In addition to this, Ryan also holds records for ‘Most international fighting videogame competition wins’ and ‘Longest winning streak on Street Fighter IV’.

Hats off to you, sir
