Street Fighter vs. Tekken announced

Capcom and Namco announced during Comic-Con today that they are joining forces to bring two of the fighting genres biggest franchises together: Street Figher and Tekken.

Few details are available right now, although it appears that there will be two versions of the title. Street Fighter X Tekken will feature Street Fighter’s visual style and 2D gameplay, while Tekken X Street Fighter will feature Tekken’s style and gameplay. Going by the teaser trailer shown at the convention, it appears that Street Fighter’s Ryu and Chun Li will both be making an appearance as playable characters. The trailer also showed some gameplay footage, including a tag team mechanic.

Street Fighter X Tekken is being developed for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Capcom and Namco are playing coy when it comes to a release date. “Release date? Not for a while! Enjoy Marvel vs Capcom 3 while you wait!” was all that was said following the trailer.
