Studio behind “Zero Dark Thirty” and “Sausage Party” going into video game publishing

A new player enters

The production company behind some of Hollywood’s biggest hits including “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Her,” and “Sausage Party” is expanding into video game publishing.

Annapurna Pictures created a new arm called Annapurna Interactive, which will focus on developing “personal, emotional, and original games that push the boundaries of interactive content and encourage artists to bring new visions to the medium.”

The new publishing arm already has a few titles coming out soon, including “What Remains of Edith Finch” from Giant Sparrow, and “Gorogoa” from Jason Roberts. Annapurna Interactive says it’s also working on new games with Katamari creator Keita Takahashi and Monument Valley lead designer Ken Wong.

Company CEO Megan Ellison says:

“The artistry and diversity of interactive storytelling is exciting and we look forward to exploring the limitless possibilities in gaming,” said Ellison. “We want to empower artists across this medium to make Annapurna Interative their home, and I believe we’ve assembled the perfect team to make that happen.”
