During E3 2014, Killer 7 and No More Heroes director Suda 51 hastily announced Let it Die, a pseudo-multiplayer brawler for PS4. The game has been a total black box ever since, but as Eurogamer reports, publisher GungHo Online today broke the silence with new screenshots, gameplay footage and a promise of a 2016 release.
“The world we are creating will push the envelope for asynchronous, free-to-play games,” GungHo said in an announcement video (above). “[Developer Grasshopper Manufacture’s trademark] visual and narrative flair remains a signature for the title.”
Let it Die is a “crazy survival action game” whose central mechanic turns defeated players into AI opponents. When you die, your character becomes an enemy in another player’s world, complete with skills, equipment and behavior based on the way you played your character. Suda summed it up nicely with this graphic:
