Summoner’s Rift update enters open beta in League of Legends

The eagerly awaited remake/update to League of Legends' Summoner's Rift — the traditional 5v5 map — has arrived. Technically in an open beta phase, the updated map is available to play only on in the Team Builder queue, as well as in all bot modes.

To commemorate the launch of the update to Summoner's Rift, Riot Games has created two exclusive new icons that can be earned by winning a game on each side of the map. If you win on the red side, you get the red icon; if you win on the blue side, you get the blue icon. Both icons will be available for the next few weeks, so you've got some time.

Earlier this week, Riot Games provided some insight into the optimization of the new Summoner's Rift, emphasizing performance as one of the primary challenges. You can read more about the challenges they face in updating the map here.
