Sunset Overdrive 2 being held back by lack of publisher

During DICE 2017, Insomniac Games' president shared some light about Sunset Overdrive’s future, saying that there was hope for the franchise to continue. At the time, fans were wondering why Microsoft, the publisher of Sunset Overdrive, hadn't given the project a green light.

Now, it seems that it is clearer what they need to make a sequel a reality.

According to a tweet from Insomniac, the only thing preventing the development of Sunset Overdrive 2 is the lack of publisher support, It appears as though Microsoft isn't investing into the series any further.

Sunset Overdrive was a launch title for the Xbox One, it was acclaimed by critics and gamers due to its gameplay and hilarious dialogues. It even received an 81% on Metacritic. Fans have been asking for a sequel for months. Perhaps other companies could make a bold move and invest in the project, like Sony or Nintendo.
