According to a new game rating by the Entertainment Software Rating Board or ESRB, 2014’s Xbox One exclusive open-world action game Sunset Overdrive is coming to PC. This is to date the most credible evidence that the game will be playable on another platform than the Xbox One. Here’s the full rating description by the ESRB.
Sunset Overdrive was one of the highlight titles during the early period of the Xbox One. The game sadly didn’t manage to become the breakout hit developer Insomniac Games hoped for but that’s hardly the game’s fault. We, just like most gamers and critics, really liked the game. Oozing with style and great gameplay mechanics, Sunset Overdrive was a victim of the catastrophic launch of Microsoft’s then-new console.
It simply couldn’t escape the bad word of mouth the Xbox One was getting back then, and became an overlooked gem. Things could change soon however, as the surfacing of the ESRB rating leaves little doubt that Sunset Overdrive is heading for the PC. A much-deserved second chance for the game, and a likely end to the yearly speculations and rumors of a PC port.
Windows Central backs up the ESRB rating even further by citing sources that Sunset Overdrive for PC is currently being beta-tested internally. They suggest the game will release via the Microsoft Store but don’t rule out a Steam release. Similar to how Quantum Break arrived on PC. Logically, a PC port could also mean that Sunset Overdrive will receive an Xbox One X enhanced patch as well. As a once premier exclusive game featured for the marketing of the Xbox One it makes sense for it to receive an X enhancement.
We wouldn’t be surprised if Insomniac Games would confirm the news soon, so follow us for more news as they emerge.
