We've seen mods and fan-made re-creations before, but this one warp-pipes its way to the top of the list.
A Youtuber named aryoksini decided to work with a free version of the Unreal Engine 4 and remake a crisp, realistic version of Super Mario 64. He created amazing environments showing Mario jumping, triple-jumping, and back-flipping his way around the area, topped with his signature "ya-hoo" yells. And he didn't stop with the realistic environments either, as he also created some more colorful, animated backdrops as well.
Aryoksini says all the environmental assets were taken from the Unreal marketplace, with all character actions scripted using blueprints only, and all animations re-created from scratch.
Needless to say, aryoksini deserves and epic round of applause.
This isn't the first time we saw someone roll up their sleeves and try to give the mustachioed hero an HD makeover. A few months ago a Super Mario 64 fan project was put out online for everyone to enjoy by making it playable via browsers. Sadly, Nintendo, which is very protective of its brands, immediately took that version down.
So enjoy this video while you can.
